Inner-City Linear Shoring from E + S and GME

Inner-City Linear shoring in use

In a class of its own for great depths

Exceptional situations...
Pipes with large dimensions, great depths, housing in the immediate vicinity, continuous traffic passing close by, and a tight schedule - these are conditions that demand the ultimate from trench shoring systems. Testing conditions that mercilessly reveal what a shoring system can really do and what it can ´t. And where its limits really lie.

Linear Shoring - no comparison.
With linear shoring the soil either side of the trench remains untouched. No adverse effects on housing, not even if it is in the immediate vicinity. No impairment of traffic flow, not even if it is moving right alongside the trench. Until the invention of linear shoring, such feats were considered unattainable.

... demand exceptional systems.
The linear shoring systems from E + S are designed for just these extreme shoring situations. The new, pioneering system which in certain crucial respects opens up totally new dimensions. It is precisely when it is put to the supreme test that linear shoring sets new standards of performance, speed, efficiency and safety on site.

E + S, the pacemaker - linear shoring is the most recent proof.
Emunds + Staudinger is the world ´s leading specialist in high-performance steel shoring systems. And with many years of experience in the field and our innovative powers, we are constantly building on this strong position. Better shoring systems for better solutions. For the benefit of our customers.

Mature product concepts for immaculate results.
We at E + S offer you custom-made solutions for each trench shoring job. From the smallest trench box through to the largest shoring system. You can only benefit from the breadth of our standard product range from the flexibility of our specially tailored systems. By using the right shoring system you save time and money, work more efficiently and achieve higher rates of return.

Our skills for professional systems.
The superior performance displayed by our linear shoring is also matched by the other shoring systems from E + S for other applications. They are all easy to handle, user-friendly and low in maintenance. These decisive criteria from the point of view of cost-effectiveness are the logical outcome of our development, design engineering and production processes. Maximizing the benefit for you as the user is the overriding goal of all our activities. You benefit from rapid pay-back, high rates of on-site return, minimum labor costs, investment security as a result of the outstanding compatibility of the system components, and efficient installation and extraction. No unnecessary expense for keeping materials on hand or unnecessary auxiliary equipment.

The idea with the rollers gets the whole thing rolling.
Linear shoring combines tried-and-tested functional principles with unconventional, innovative ideas to create a revolutionary new shoring system. What is well-known is shoring panels held in vertical rails so that they can slide past one another. When fully installed, they create an overlapping, height-adjustable shoring system.

What is new on the linear shoring system is - replacing the permanently positioned hinged spreaders usually found even on high-performance slide rail systems - the use of rigid roller units to keep the soldiers and the shoring panels apart in the trench. In such a way that the desired trench width remains the same - absolutely the same - at all stages of installation.

Vertically mobile, horizontally adjustable.
The roller units mounted in the soldiers of the shoring system can be adjusted in height to match the increasing depth of the trench. The width of the roller frame is adapted by the spreader system to the desired trench width.

Here we see the open section of the soldier with its broad and firm contact face on which the frame rests. Because of this design the soldiers cannot rotate about their vertical axes.

A right to right angles.

The mobile frame accurately ensures right angles in the trench. Everything is linearly aligned, always at exactly the same distance from the opposite side. In all phases of construction. That is the key to success. Because this means you can work more efficiently, faster and to a higher standard of quality whilst at the same time cutting costs appreciably.

On conventional shoring systems, the spreaders which inevitably have to be attached at the top edge of the shoring panels make particularly long shovel jibs necessary (orange). No problem with the height-adjustable mobile frame of the linear shoring system (red). The angle of the struts when lowering conventional shoring systems causes horizontal displacement of the panels. The result is changes in the trench width. Linear shoring, by contrast, ensures an unchanging trench width.

Linear shoring stays right on line.
The problem associated with other shoring systems, that of the trench becoming a few centimetres narrower or wider when soldiers are lowered or lifted, has been eliminated. There are no cavities between the earth and the trench panels.

No vibrations.
There is a permanent frictional bond between the soil and the shoring. This prevents subsidence. The soil cannot settle during installation or extraction. The system operates vibration-free because there is no wedging, jamming or clamping. There is no horizontal displacement of soil and everything outside the trench stays as it was. The whole operation runs incredibly smoothly. During installation and extraction.

Even when it comes to the soldier design the linear shoring from E + S has made new advancements. For the first time ever it is now possible to swing shoring panels into position from the sides. With other systems the panels have to be inserted in a complicated procedure from above.

In principle simple, yet highly effective: Swinging shoring panels into position from the side. This swinging principle applies both to the inner and outer panels.

Tall panels can now be fitted in spite of overhead cables.
Because the shoring panels are swung at ground level from the side into the soldiers and not lowered from a great height, overhead cables such as tram contact lines are no longer an obstacle. This represents a huge step forward in many inner-city applications.

Unparalleled soldier heights for unparalleled depths.
Another advantage of side placement is that the system permits extremely long columns. Long soldiers are essential for exceptional depths because the roller frame has to be lowered to a corresponding level.

Excavators can work unhindered.
On this system the height of the soldiers is no problem for the excavator because at the start of work its jib only has to reach over the 2 m high mobile frame fitted at ground level between the soldiers- and not over a spreader attached to the top. As soon as the mobile frame is completely in the trench, the next one can be simply inserted from above.

Successful and safe.
Linear shoring has no trouble complying with the requirements contained in the safety regulations of the civil engineering trade.

One regulation, for instance, specifies that struts of shoring systems have to be horizontal in their final fitted state. With linear shoring, this requirement is met at all stages of the shoring process.

All clear for different culvert clearances.
With linear shoring you can set different culvert clearances with complete ease. And without any of the effort associated with individual struts. The mobile frame is simply shifted vertically -to any desired depth.

Advantages that count.
Linear shoring yields extremely good soil compaction values during extraction. The overall efficiency of the system particularly in deep trenches is enhanced even further by the fact that the forces released during extraction are considerably lower than on most other shoring systems. And that is an assurance of a high overall pipe-laying rate.
